Hey fellow jeepers. First of all i want to introduce myself. My name is joshua and i live in Jacksonville, Fl. I just bougt a 1997 Jeep Cherokee. i am wanting to lift but i am not sure what all is involved in doing so. I want to raise it around 3". I saw some kits on ebay for around 250 $. What all is involved with lifting a jeep 3"? shocks, spacers, blocks? Please fill a newbie on on some of this stuff please. Thanks My email is jrglisso@aol.com. Thanks in advance.

As you can see there isn't much action here. I, myself just drop in every now and again. So your lift is most likely done. You found a kit that included all the parts you would need to complete the job I hope. Lifts are not the most difficult modification, but they do need to be done properly since your whole rig rides on it. I found the transfercase drop to be the most challeging part. Here in northern Il the rust gets in and makes things intresting to say the least. I have a whole vocabulary for rusted parts. Lift springs are better then blocks, and driveline alignment may be an issue. If it's all together and not shakin you out of the seat chances are you're good. Happy wheelin. Chicago pavement is just like off roading, with alot of competion for the smoothest line. |

I'm sure that you probably have your lift installed, but for others that may find this post, here is a good writeup of how to install a jeep lift. I believe that when you mention $300 lifts, they are probably coil suspension lifts, that include new shocks.
